View Full Version : iMon VFD and Russian charset #2
Hello. In the thread here: http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?p=322#post322 I described a thanscoding table from Russian and Ukrainian to the CG-RAM VFD symbols.
Unfortunately, I found that I've forgotten one Ukrainian symbol which is in use by Ukrainians.
I'll try to fix that error by posting here an additional symbol which I forgot. Since the original post is locked, I decided to create a new thread to post a missing character.
I hope iMon programmers will not forget to add this letter to the transcoding table as I did.
I think you may want to merge those threads together.
Thanks.

This is an old table I've posted before (which do not include a forgotten character):

Dear KDI,
Thanks for your support.
We already uploaded the Russian support feature in our To Do List. We'll refer your table when implementing this feature.
Thanks and best regards,

The thing is that this table was not full as it lacks one missed letter which was added as a separate table in the first post.
OK, we have updates which support languages.
But why do you allow to transcode supported apps? For Example - Mediaportal shows hieroglyphs but not a normal russian letters.
Why not to transcribe every program which outputs to the iMon VFD?

Dear KDI,
Does iMON work fine on displaying Russian character? And do you mean that it doesn’t work without iMON SW?
We modified SW (iMON.exe and SG_VFD.dll) for supporting Russian on VFD. If you’re using other program for displaying information on VFD, it may still not display Russian character. It may need the update of iMON VFD plug-in. But regret to say, currently we don’t have any fixed plan for releasing the newer version of iMON VFD plug-in.

Johnny Hur
I meant that russian tharacters display fine only if the app is included into the the supported apps (winamp, imedian, mediacenter, itunes) list in iMON.
The info from programs which are not included in the supported apps list (the rest of them, like foobar, mediaportal etc) is not automatically converted for no reason.

Commited this. If I turned transcoding russian chars off in minidisplay plugin (media portal), I get wrong chars on display. But when I choose file with russian letters in iMedianHD all look fine - the letters are russian. I think that support must be full - no matter application is supported or not by iMon. If it send symbols on VFD they must be correct displayed.

Dear johnny.hur !
I guess I understood what KDI mean!
The latest IMon software has support of Cyrillic texts (it translates text strings to an encoding which is understood by VFD before sending it) in FrontView etc, But it DOES NOT translate text strings sent in PLUGIN MODE. So all the applications which utilize this mode CANNOT display Cyrillic texts.
It would be great if transaltion would be done in plugin mode also. I think it's easy to implement and it would be very helpful.
