Hi Soundgraph,

I just received my FingerVU 895 last week - very pleased with the product (although the stand is a little wobbly).

I have noticed when I am using fullscreen applications on my main monitor and have the FingerVU Internet browser up and select to insert some text into my browser window my computer will lose focus of the main screen. I have found that sometimes in various areas of FingerUI it will sometimes lose focus of the main screen, it is usually when something like a new 'FingerUI Typing Application' is opened.

Can you please help me?

If I am not clear with the issue let me know and I will explain more.

Dear faceman,

It is normal behavior of FingerUI to get focus from the main screen when there's the Text Input UI is popped up in FingerUI.

There're two cases when FingerUI get the focus of main screen;
1) Text input UI with virtual keyboard is popped up
> In this case, in order to make a string using real keyboard or virtual keyboard, FingerUI need to have focus.
2) In Desktop mode
> In this case, FingerVU monitor shows Windows desktop and touch action generates mouse action like click, the focus on main screen will be lost. (Even the focus will back to original focused window.)

Thanks a lot,

Thank you for the fast response.

That is exactly the problem - when the onscreen keyboard pops-up to create a string the mainscreen loses focus; Do you know if future releases of FingerUI will have this problem fixed?

Dear faceman,

For English and numbers, it may be possible to make string without capturing focus. However, FingerUI needs to support other languages than English and in order to make it possible we need to use Window IME. However Windows application should capture focus during making string using Window IME. This is the reason why FingerUI captures focus during virtual keyboard launched. In order to making string without capturing focus, we need to make our own custom IME for every language. Making custom IMEs for every language may not be done shortly and we do not have a plan to do it yet.

Thanks a lot,

Hi Kim,

That sounds reasonable - I think English should be done first and other languages put on at a much later date. It's a good idea because losing focus detracts a lot from the value of FingerUI and often the screen cannot be used during full screen applications on the primary screen.

I hope it is coded into FingerUI soon! :)
