View Full Version : iMon 7.60 and up Can't Assign MORE/BACK Buttons

Hi there, I noticed this since version 7.60 and up.
If Imon Manager is set to MCE Remote, the MCE buttons MORE and Back is NO LONGER available as a button to assign! This is completely unacceptable. Versions 7.5 and below work just fine.

The WEIRD thing is this though.
If I take my remote profile files backup from 7.50 and OVERWRITE the ones when 7.60 is installed (%appdata%\Soundgraph\imon\setup\mce remote\), my buttons that was assigned to more/back works just fine, but if I try to edit it, it's no longer a selectable button I can choose.
So, the more/back does work in 7.60 if using 7.50 remote profiles.

This must have been an oversight on SoundGraph. Please look into it, thank you.

Dear nxt,

There's something missing in the iMON Manager software source code during update.
In order to sort out the problem, could you let us know which firmware version of hardware your are running? You could this number at iMON Manager > Options > Version/Update page.

Thanks and best regards,

Hi, I can confirm this is happening to alot of users of iMon & MCE using remotes, I am a member of the Australian Media Centre Comunnity Forum and its a big problem for our users, I also have the problem with no Skip or Back button working using the current version of iMon and a new install of Windows 7 on a Siiverstone LM16 case.

Can you tell me how to fix this?

Further, if setting for the remote in Window 7 is under:-
"C:User\Logon Name\AppData\Roaming\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON\Setup\Remote Name" is it possible to add in the missing code for Back & skip buttons?

I do not have a previous install to get hold of a backup Remote Name file or can you email me a backup of the old setup Remote file so I can copy it accross?

Dear All

I think you’re using more than 2 iMON HW and their FW version may be different. (Using HID keyboard driver or not)

If FW does not use HID driver, it’s an old model and BACK or MORE button can be assigned.
But with the HID supporting model these buttons and the numeric buttons on MCE remote can’t be mapped to other functions because the signal of these buttons is transferred through HID keyboard driver to OS.

In order to support the triple-tap SMS like character-input on Windows Media Center search menu and to support entering the numeric password on Windows Login screen, the numeric buttons, #, * and OK, BACK, MORE buttons on MCE remote are transferred through HID Keyboard driver. And these buttons can’t be mapped to other functions.

In iMON Manager>Option>Version/Update, you can check FW version.

Hi,
My iMon Firmware ver is 0x360101, iMon HID OEM.

I am running iMon Manager ver 7.62.0630

So what is the work around to get my remote to do Replay & Skip?

Do I have to use the IR microsoft reciever that came with the MCE remote? and if so what do I turn off in iMon but still have the VFD display working?

Can I get the old MCE Remote config file from say iMon version 7.50 and over write the current files like another forum member has done in this thread?

Or can we enter:- Next[KEY]CTRLF
PREV[KEY]CTRLB
in the MCE Remote config file or in settings-program command, under XPMediaCenter?

Dear Robertus,

I had some misunderstanding. Your case is different with nxt’s.
You mean Replay and Skip button does not work, is it right?
Then, do all buttons except Replay and Skip work fine?

First of all, please check Replay or Skip button as follows and let us know the result.
1. Select “Settings” and “Windows Command” in iMON Manager.
2. Double-Click “Run App.Launcher” item in list.
Then Registration Wizard will be popped up.
3. Press Replay or Skip button and compare with other buttons.
If the button works fine, the button selection of combo box will be changed.

Thanks I will try that tonight.

I tested last night by installing the Microsoft Ir Receiver and all the buttons on the MCE remote worked. The Skip button jumped the 30 seconds ahead & the Replay button went back 10 seconds each time the button was pushed.

With the iMon software and the Silverstone LM16 case with built in IR all buttons work except Skip & Replay. As mentioned before a lot members on the Australian MCE forum are having the same problem when they use the lastest iMon software.

You mention the HID and my VFD/IR hardware in the siverstone case maybe the problem due to using keyboard strokes that the MCE remote uses for Skip & Replay.....is this a problem for me or not is my case ok and the MCE remote should be working fine?

OK, I ran "Run App.Launcher" as per your previous thread!

Both Skip & Replay buttons showed up as correct, Skip as Next and Replay as Previous. It also showed up as that under Program Command with XPMediaCenter selected. Still does not work.

I played a TV recording and on the keyboard pressed "Ctrl B" the recording went 10 seconds back, I then press "Ctrl F" on the keyboard and the recording skipped forward 30 seconds.

So as stated in my earlier thread, is there a way to place in the remote config file or the Program Command section the following lines so the remote uses the below commands:-

Next[KEY]CTRLF
PREV[KEY]CTRLB

as the keyboard has taken over Skip & Replay commands?

Robertus

Ok, I fixed it!

I went into Settings, Program Command double clicked on the line Previous Track and Next Track & manually changed it so it now reads:-

" Previous Track (Left Ctrl)+(B)+( ) Replay 0"
" Next Track (Left Ctrl)+(F)+( ) Skip 0"

Fixed the problem, so now it emulates the keyboard strokes.

So all you need to know is why is this happening the Windows 7 RC?

Dear Robertus,

For Media Center, the buttons related to the media playback are mapped with multimedia key, not the combination of generic keyboard’s key.
It has worked fine in XP MCE Edition and Vista.
I think Windows7 is not the official version and different with the previous version.

but we'll check this issue on our test team.
And if it is a iMON’s bug, we'll add this bug fix to our To Do List.

Scott// Please check this issue on Windows7.

Hello iMON moderators,

Has this bug of the MORE/BACK buttons been corrected or will be for the July 27th release?

Thanks.

Ive got this issue as well - Specifically, since going to Win7, the multimedia key emulation for Skip/Replay (Next/Previous) doesnt work. Im using iMon manager 7.62 with OEM FW 0x93 on Win7 RTM (I had this issue on Win7 RC1 as well)

All other multimedia keys work fine (play/pause/stop etc) but Next/Prev dont.

If I test with a keyboard with the MM keys on it, Next/Prev work fine. Ive also tested with the app.launcher config as described in the above thread and iMon recognises the key presses on the remote.

Reassigning CtrlF and CtrlB work fine, however CtrlF and CtlrB DONT work with new functionality in Win7 MediaCentre where holding the next or prev key brings up a preview window that you can jump forward or back with without affecting the main screens playback. When you find the location in the preview you want, MC will jump directly to that location. Its a pretty cool piece of eye candy (see #4 in http://blog.epgstream.net/index.php/...-media-center/ for example.)

So for me, CtrlB and CtrlF arent a good workaround. Id be a happy man if this was corrected in a future update.

Hi Johnny.Hur

As this Next/Rewind remote problem under W7 MCE seems to be giving a lot users a problem and is constantly in forum debates and which seems to relate to the keyboard mapping.

This problem does not occur if you use the MS remote IR sensor rather than the case IR, will you be giving this some priority in the offical W7 release of your software?

I see no mention of it in your to do list?

7.62 has not rectified the problem?

It would be good if MCE users could be informed that:-

1. Yes you are aware of this problem!
2. It will be retified in the official release!

Thanks

Dear nxt,

For the BACK button, HID keyboard driver generates Backspace key event when using the HID type of iMON hardware and you could not assign this button to other function as described.

For the MORE button, iMON Software generates key event even when using HID type of iMON hardware. And we found it is a bug that the MORE button is not shown in the button list.

New iMON.exe file was built and attached. If you'd like to test, make your iMON up to date to ver.7.63.0831 and then overwrite iMON.exe attached.

Dear nbradfor,

We need to check why these two multimedia key event generated by iMON Manager do not transfer correctly. If there's any bug, we'll add it to our To Do List.
And we'll change the default preset of Skip/Rewind for Media Center to CTRL+F/CTRL+B instead of multimedia key, though the equivalent keyboard shortcut CTRL+F, CTRL+B do not work for preview window in Win7 Media Center.

Thanks a lot,
