Hi people,

Since I am still having issues with iMON after sleeping (sometimes it wake up, sometimes freezes in 100%) I am trying to kill it before suspend and restart it after awake.

Killing it is fine but after resume I cant start it in an usable way.

I already tried:

1 - A batch script to start it after wake up using PowerScheduler in MediaPortal
2 - Call it directly using MPStandbyHandler

Using both methods iMON starts (I can see it running with task manager) but does not shows up.

How can I restart iMON after resume?

Kind regards

ssjunior

Dear ssjunior,

I found your previous post and you said after updating Nvidia drivers to last version, iMon started to work even after sleeping.

http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?t=485

Please let me know the following issues.
Is the current problem different with the previous?
Why do you use PowerScheduler in MediaPortal?
When you use only iMON, what happen after resuming?

Hi johnny.hur,

> Is the current problem different with the previous?

Looks like the same. I tought the problem was nVidia, but, freezing continues to happen.

> Why do you use PowerScheduler in MediaPortal?

Just to avoid iMON freezing after resuming.

> When you use only iMON, what happen after resuming?

Looks like that it starts normally.

Ok, let me explain what I think. I notice that when I cold start my computer, iMON starts at the same time with Mediaportal because both are configured to run at startup.

There is a glitch. iMON freezes and the LCD remains green until Mediaportal finishes starting. That means iMON only becomes operational and shows information AFTER TV server and MediaPortal GUI starts. This could take 1 minute. Looks like that iMON waits for MP information or something like that.

I tried everything to solve this issue and what solved my problem was using PowerScheduler to kill Mediaportal before resume and restart it WAITING 10s after resume. This way iMON starts normally and after 10s Mediaportal starts. Looks like that if both starts at same time iMON will freeze randomly. I am running this way for 4 or 5 days and until now every time iMON and Mediaportal restarted fine.

It is a little bit annoying to have to kill MP and wait for some time before starting it again. I think the problem is related to iMON waiting for Mediaportal or something like that. If you could take a look at this issue, and confirm that is a bug, I will be happy to see it fixed in the near future.

Kind regards and thanks

Dear ssjunior,

I think you’re using a certain MediaPortal feature that display information on iMON LCD.
Is it right?

Currently iMON doesn’t support MediaPortal media information.
If MediaPortal media information is displayed on iMON LCD, the program handling display is made by MediaPortal, not our product.
I think it makes iMON wait the initialization of MediaPortal.

No I do not try to show MediaPortal information using iMON. The minidisplay plugin does not works with my LCD. It even recognize it. So, this plugin is disabled.

Now, even if I kill MediaPortal and not restart it after resume, sometimes iMON freezes when the computer resumes automatically to do some recordings. It is not consistent.

Please notice that I do a lot of recordings and looks like this problem is related to computer waking up automatically. Normally, when I start the computer manually I do not have this kind of problem.

Is it possible to write a script to kill it and restart it? I already tried but, if iMON is started automatically by other process it runs (I can see in task manager) but dos not shows and responds.

Any lights?

Thanks in advance

PS: I already updated to latest version and did not solve the problem.

Dear ssjunior,

We still need more information about your problem.
And we may have to test this problem in our lab.
Please let me know the followings.
1. What kind of application do you use for TV record scheduling?
2. Does it wake up your system from S3/S4 and make your system enter S3/S4?
3. How If there is no TV recording, does iMON work fine after wakeup?
4. If there is no TV recording, does iMON work fine after wakeup?

Dear raven,

I’m sorry for your inconvenience.
In order to solve this problem, we need more information about this problem.

Dear johnny.hur,

i have the following answers for you:

1. Blue ring.
2. Yes.
3. Current date/ time.
4. Yes. Imon is not „fully“ frozen. I can continue to work this iMon or iMedian. But the CPU usage stays at 100%

Thanks in advance,
raven

Dear raven,

Thanks for your answers.
I still need more information about this problem.
Although it may be bothering you, please let me know the followings again.
1. Does iMON.exe use all 100% of CPU?
2. When iMON freezes, does the remote work?
3. Does iMON use 100% of CPU continuously till you close iMON?
4. How often does it happen when waking up from Sleep?

The best way to solve this kind of problem is to re-produce it in our test lab.
If it doesn’t happen in our test lab, we may need your help.
I think this information will be helpful to re-produce it.

Johnny,

Sorry for the delay. I spent last 10 days trying to find a solution. I installed Win 7 64 and Win 7 32 bits to see what happens.

I used WMC for one week and every single time my computer wake up for recordings and iMon did not freeze. Perfect!

Then I switched back to Mediaportal. Every time the computer wake up by itself to record something iMON freezes. Last couple days I disable Frontview and guess what? iMon did not freeze. Since then looks like that everything is ok, except that I do not have Frontview anymore.

I am suspecting that the problem is related to MediaPortal client. I notice that every time my computer auto starts MediaPortal client and iMON, iMON freezes and wait for MediaPortal client startup.

Let me give some answers:

When iMON freezes, does Indicator display yellow ring or blue ring?
blue

When iMON freezes, can you close iMON with tray menu>exit?
no, I can even access the taskbar. I need to open task manager with ctrl-alt-del to kill it.

When iMON freezes, what is displayed on FrontView?
Frozen CPU information.

If you close and run iMON, does it work again?
Yes

Does iMON.exe use all 100% of CPU?
No

When iMON freezes, does the remote work?
No

How often does it happen when waking up from Sleep?
Every unattended wake up from the system timer

What kind of application do you use for TV record scheduling?
Mediaportal

Does it wake up your system from S3/S4 and make your system enter S3/S4?
Yes

How If there is no TV recording, does iMON work fine after wakeup?
Yes, but, only if I press the power button and if the system did not wake up before by system timer.

kind regards

Dear ssjunior,

If it happens only when using MediaPortal, MediaPortal seems to try to do some action related iMON HW after waking up from S3/S4.
The feature that MediaPortal uses iMON HW is not developed by SoundGraph.
But I think that when we implement MediaPortal information, this issue may be checked.
Please wait for a while.

I think your problem is different with ssjunior’s.
This may be related with “WMIPRVSE.EXE” issues.
