Can I play 5.1 AAC as 5.1 AC3 through SPDIF? It views the file properly, Video: H264 Audio: 6 Channel AAC. fddshow is supposed to be capable of handling it but I can't get it working in iMedian HD. Thanks in advance.

Dear adtrisno,

You might want that iMEDIAN HD compresses the AAC audio stream into AC3 and makes it pass-through S/PDIF to external decoder. We'll check it is possible to get it in iMEDIAN HD and if possible, we'll add this feature to our To Do List.

Anyway, could I know the reason why this kind of usage is needed?

Thanks a lot,

Well, a lot of my movies are 6 channel AAC (especially newer ones), but my receiver (Denon 3806) cannot decode 6 channel AAC. My HTPC connects to my receiver via HDMI and coax (Video and Audio seperately). So to get proper 6 channel audio through SPDIF/coax, I would have to encode the 6 channel AAC to 6 channel AC3 first, then passthrough to my receiver.

Right now, iMedian HD sees 6 channel AAC correctly but when I play the file through the internal decoder, my receiver receives only 2 channel. Have yet to try it through analog, because if possible I would like to keep using just 1 coax cable rather than running 3 analog cables from my HTPC to my receiver.

ffdshow has a AAC-AC3 Transcoder. I haven't had time to try it though, been busy:P.

Movies (not DVDs) with AC3 or DTS 6 channel audio work fine though...
Thanks in advance...
