View Full Version : Mute does not not work

Hi,

I am using Imon VSD with Win 7.

Evreything appears to work just fine except for ONE issue:-

Mute does not work on Windows Media centre.

When Mute is pressed, the volumes reduces to zero and then climbs back up again to its previous level.

Not only is this an incorrect way to mute (by reducing the volume), it does not hold that state either.

It would be really nice to have this working properly.

Many thanks

Yo

Dear jabey,

The problem you saying is fixed in the latest version 7.62.0630 as shown in the Version History at the following link;
http://htpcinside.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44

If you are running iMON Software version 7.61.0522 or before, please make it up to date.
Please enable the auto update feature in iMON Manager > Options > Version/Update.

Thanks,
slash.kim

hey slash, would it be possible for SoundGraph to get the updated version, full installer, online for download? I think many people would prefer to download and store the newest version rather than just relying on Auto Upgrades.

Many thanks for the quick reply Slash.

I will enable auto-update and check this when I get home today.

Thanks again!

Dear crlorentzen,

The iMON&iMEDIAN HD installation file is about 100MB size and the auto update patch is normally under 5MB. In order to make users convenient when updating iMON& iMEDIAN HD Software, we have been supporting this kind of auto update feature. It maybe annoying to uninstall and install again and again just for simple minor update. And because many iMON users download the installation files at the same time when new version released, there is also much delay to download it.

However, I think we need to support the users whose PC is not always connected to internet. There maybe needed an executable patch file for new version or full installation file as you said.

Thanks,
slash.kim

Dear Slash.Kim,

I am currently in the same situation (mute/unmute doesn't work in Media Center while it works in Media player in ex.)

So I would be more than happy to upgrade to 7.62 but the problem is that auto-Update never starts (there is even no notification nor any kind of event that could let me think auto-update is starting).

I can let my PC running for hours or stop/start imon manually. Nothing happens and my imon version remains blocked on 7.60.0521.

Any idea about what is happening here?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

By the way, I found one of your post in another discussion:

When iMON Manager starts up, it checks the update available or not. If you are using dial-up connection please refer the following;

1. Make the auto update feature enabled(update automatically option recommended) in the iMON Manager > Options > Version/History page.
2. 'Exit' iMON Manager from the menu popped-up by right-clicking on iMON icon in the system tray.
3. Ready internet connection.
4. Run iMON Manager again by double-clicking iMON Desktop icon.
5. During starting up, iMON Auto Update Manager will show the balloon tip on the system tray and Auto Update Manager will start downloading the patch files and update.
6. After completing, you could disconnect internet connection.

Thanks,
slash.kim

In my case, I have never seen any balloon tip on the system tray. iMON Manager starts normally but nothing else happens.

In my case, I have never seen any balloon tip on the system tray. iMON Manager starts normally but nothing else happens. My last update occured with the iMon Manager -> Option -> Version/Update Update section reading 'Only Inform Update'. What happened was I received a prompt that there was a new update available and then I clicked to allow this to occur. You could try changing to this setting and restarting iMon (with your internet connection already active if you have dial-up access (you never mentioned if you have an always on internet or not).

Thanks Flying Kiwi,

What you suggest dosn't work for me.
My internet connection is indeed always active but whatever the option (only inform or autoupdate) nothing happens, no popup windows nor any message.
Lately , I have monitored my internet I/O to see if something happens when launching iMON. The answer is YES. I can see few packets going in and out but iMON doesn't ask any question.

My driver is 7.60.0521 (ZALMAN) installed on a fresh Win7 RC and Zalman HD160plus HTPC.

I really don't understand what is going on...

Lately , I have monitored my internet I/O to see if something happens when launching iMON. The answer is YES. I can see few packets going in and out but iMON doesn't ask any question.Maybe there is some restriction going on there as you otherwise have a very similar setup to mine and mine works fine. Do you have any firewall installed (either software or hardware - perhaps your monitoring software is also stopping the traffic? Was iMon the first bit of software you installed (and tested) after the OS and all its essential drivers?

My driver is 7.60.0521 (ZALMAN) installed on a fresh Win7 RC and Zalman HD160plus HTPC.If you installed it from the Zalman CDROM, try installing the downloaded from Soundgraph Website version (I've only ever installed the Soundgraph website version as it was newer than my Antec CDROM version to start with). Maybe that'll make a difference:)

I have no firewall installed.
iMON & PowerDVD are pretty much the only SW I have installed on my PC.

I have installed the 7.60.0521 version coming from the soundgraph website as the OEM CDROM version (6.X or something) didn't work very well.

The only thing I have not tested is to install with English as language pref. as mine is currently in French.

It is a pity that iMON doesn't provide more diagnostic if it fails to connect to the server or if there is an obstacle to the auto-update process...

Dear cyclope,

ZALMAN specific installation information seems block the auto update. Please try to remove this ZALMAN specific information from the registry as following;
1. Exit iMON Manager
2. Remove "SE" key at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Soundgraph\iMON
3. Launch iMON Manager again

Thanks a lot

Hi Slash.kim,

Good to hear from you!
You got it!
Your advice has solved the issue and I have been able to update the iMON Mgr version. Mute issue is now behind.
Many thanks for your help.

I'm having the exact same issue. I downloaded and installed the latest iMon for Win 7 (7.77.1022)

Previously, neither volume or mute was working after installing Win7. This latest update fixed the volume control problem I had been having, but mute still does not work - exactly as the original poster described. When I press mute, LCD display shows 'MUTE', the media center volume display reduces to 0, then returns back to whatever it was set at.

I have a Antec Fusion black 430 case

Dear JB_HTPC,

When mute, iMON reduces volume gradually, apply mute and set to original volume.
If Media Center is running, when iMON tries to set to original volume, Media Center makes system volume un-mute.
Thus, if Media Center is running, iMON doesn’t set to original volume.

Please compare mute when Media Center is running and not running and let me know.
And try again launching iMON before running Media Center.

Johnny Hur

Hello Johnny Hur,
Mute and unmute seems to be working perfectly with my Win 7 x86 setup and latest version of iMON (although not in the traditional way because it gradually adjusts the volume between it's original setting and zero rather than instantly doing so). Irrespective of whether or not Media Centre is running it works in its own gradual way. What is the bug you are describing? I feel like I'm missing out on something:p;)

Dear Flying_Kiwi,

If Media Center is running, when iMON tries to set to original volume, Media Center makes system volume un-mute.
Thus, if Media Center is running, iMON doesn’t set to original volume.
It’ not a current bug.
Because JB_HTPC said mute doesn’t work, I just want to know that when iMON tries to set the original volume after mute, there is some other application forcedly makes system volume un-mute like Media Center in JB_HTPC’s system.

Thanks for clearing that up. It must be something specific with that other hardware/driver/software config then as mine appears fine in this regard and volumes/mute/unmute status are correctly remembered in all cases here.
