I purchased myself a new mobo, CPU and RAM today and after installing it all I had disastrous results with the iMON equipment.

I read the manual again on how to install it but only to find that after turning it on that there was a strange burning smell coming from inside. I turned it off, opened the case and small amounts of smoke poured out. I found after removing the iMON player that one of the cables was completely melted. The cable in question was a strip of 3 cables (purple, black & red) and ran from the ATX adapter to the CN1st_pwr socket on the iMON player. The black cable (middle of the three) was the one that had been discintigtrated to a crisp.

I have not got a clue on how this has happened but I need to know whether I can purchase a new ATX adapter or will I need to contact the company I purchased it from to try and get a replacement.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Dear dazzyboy10,

It seems that you already have used iMON product. Does it happen on iMON HW and Power supply used in other system? And what kind of iMON product do you have?
I think it is weird. We didn’t receive the burnt cable problem from other users yet. You can buy ATX cable from our On-line shop. But I think iMON HW may be damaged. Please contact with the shop you bought it and check if it is possible to replace.

I managed to get in contact with ANTEC and they have said they will be able to send me a replacement 24/3 pin adapter.

One thing i did notice at the time of installing is that the adapter seemed to be a very tight fit in the mobo socket and took some effort to plug it in whereas the standard atx power cable from the PSU fitted nicely.

Either way i was baffled but lets just hope that it is just the power adapter that is damaged
