I'm having problem with DD/DTS passthrough over SPDIF after installing iMON/iMEDIAN HD (latest auto-patch) on Windows 7 - I have no sound at all and receiver doesn't detect that signal is DTS.
On the other hand, when I do DD or DTS testing from Win 7 sound properties, I hear sound over receiver and DTS/DD lights on receiver are lit on.
Same version of iMON/iMEDIAN HD __worked correctly__ regarding DD/DTS passthrough over SPDIF, on a same setup/same hardware but __with WIN XP MCE__ (Asus P5Q-EM motherboard, Realtek ALC1200 integrated HD audio, Intel G45 integrated graphic). Drivers are latest from Asus site.
Does anyone know how to solve this ?
Kind regards,
Nenad Radosavljevic

Even with latest october 5 update DTS passtrough over S/PDIF on Windows 7 doesn't work :( ...
Interestingly, Windows Media Player that comes with Windows 7, on that same PC, plays that same MKV file and my receiver DO decode DTS (lits up the DTS indicator and decodes all 6 channels).
DolbyDigital (AC) passtrough over S/PDIF is working from both WMP and iMEDIAN HD and a receiver lits up "DolbyDigital" indication and decodes all channels.
It seems that something is changed in a way application should tell system to make a passtrough of DTS over S/PDIF, and that WMP knows how to do that, and iMEDIAN HD still doesn't.
Please guys, try to resolve this - this works normaly on XP on all versions.
Thanks !

Is it possible to get the graphic equalizer working for passthrough?
All my video files are .mkv with dts/ac3 audio and the equalizer does nothing. Is their a way to override this?

Dear Nenad,
We are sorry mo make late reply. We need to check the S/PDIF pass-through of DTS stream on our side. Anyway, could you please check this feature with other audio renderer setting in iMEDIAN HD? With some soundcard, default direct sound audio renderer can make this kind of problem. You could change the audio renderer at iMEDIAN HD Settings > Audio/Video > Audio > Detail > Renderer.
Thanks and best regards,

Dear swears,
Normally, it is not possible to get PCM data which's used as data of EQ with DTS/AC3 pass-through, because decoding is done in external receiver/decoder. However, iMEDIAN HD could clone the DTS/AC3 stream and use one as stream pass-through the external decoder and the other for EQ. This feature is already implemented. We'll check this feature on our test lab. and of there's any problem, we'll add it to our To Do List.
Thanks a lot,

OK, I have Asus p5q-em motherboard, and it have integrated Realtek ALC1200 HDAudio controller, with 7.1 analog output, 1 optical, and 1 coax S/PDIF output. My receiver, Pioneer VSX-415, is connected to a coax s/pdif out of sound card and it is capable of decoding Dolby Digital, and DTS streams. Motherboard has integrated Intel Graphics with HDMI out, and my Samsung TV is connected over that HDMI.
In Win 7, Intel HDMI is primary sound card and system sounds are heard on TV speakers (TV is stereo, it _doesn't_ decode DolbyDigital nor DTS).
Test file is IronMaiden documentary Flight666 Video AVC encoded, Audio DTS - 6CH, 48Khz encoded.
Other iMEDIAN HD settings I consider relevant:
Audio/Video > Audio > AudioOutput ->S/PDIF
Audio/Video > Audio > Use ExternalReceiver -> Dolby Digital -> Yes (passtrough)
Audio/Video > Audio > Use ExternalReceiver -> DTS -> Yes (passtrough)
Audio/Video > A/V Filter -> all to defaults (Internal filters/decoders/splitters)
iMEDIAN HD sees in Settings > Audio/Video > Audio > Detail > Renderer following renderers (and I have tested them all with both coax and optical S/PDIF):
1. System Default (Video YES, Audio NO)
2. HDMI Device (Video YES, Audio just a constant humming noise heard from TV)
3. Direct Sound default device (Video YES, Audio just a constant humming noise heard from TV)
4. Default WaveOut device (Video YES, Audio NO)
5. Direct Sound: HDMI Device (Video NO, Audio NO, iMEDIAN HD gets confused and constantly ask to play from last position)
6. Direct Sound: Realtek Digital Output (Video NO, Audio NO, iMEDIAN HD gets confused and constantly ask to play from last position)
7. Direct Sound: Realtek Digital Output (Optical) (Video NO, Audio NO, iMEDIAN HD gets confused and constantly ask to play from last position)
8. Realtek Digital Output (Video YES, Audio NO)
9. Realtek Digital Output (Optical) (Video YES, Audio NO)
Note 1: With renderer set to 8 or 9 and above settings, I always successfuly decode Dolby Digital audio (from 6 channel AC3) on my receiver.
Note 2: With a renderer setting of 8 or 9 and Audio/Video > Audio > Use ExternalReceiver -> DTS -> set to NO, I get Stereo signal on my receiver even if the source is DTS, 6 chennels like in Flight666.
Note 3: Windows Media Player that comes preinstalled with Win7 successfuly plays Flight666 WITH 6 ch DTS audio decoded on receiver (CCCP codec pack is installed on that computer, and i DON't see fddshow audio/video icons, I just see Haali media splitter icon, so I strongly believe that WMP activates DTS passtrough over S/PDIF).
Note 4: DTS and DolbyDigital test sounds from Win7 Playback Devices properties are decoded and played successfuly on receiver.
My oppinion is that the way that application should tell a system to activate DTS passtrough over S/PDIF is changed in Windows 7, since DTS passtrough over S/PDIF worked in Win XP MCE, I used to have on same hardware !!!
I hope this tests help you somehow to locate and fix DTS problem with iMEDIAN HD!

Just to add that new build 7.77.1022 doesn't resolve this problem, and that I have noticed one thing that mey be root of this DTS problem:
When I select movie with DTS 6 ch sound for play, there are Video/Audio data diplayed on overlay OSD (name, video codec, audio codec, number of channels and audio sampling rate, audio BITRATE !)
Well ONLY and ONLY on movies with DTS encoded sound i see AUDIO BITRATE of 1 Kbps on movie info, and 0 (zero) kbps when I start the movie !!! (and receiver doesn't decode DTS and gives no sound, iMEDAIN HD is in DTS passtrough mode)
For movies encoded with AC3 sound, I see usualy 384 Kbps for bitrate, and Dolby Digital is decoded OK on my receiver (iMEDAIN HD is in DolbyDigital passtrough mode).
Can this help resolving this issue ?

Khm, are U sure? that your av reciever supports current formats?
Everything works for me (win7 + imedian + GF9300 chipset + HDMI (tv) + Opt. SPDIF + JVC RX-E5)
Also you shold try, to test your reciver in control panel - audio devices and add some checkboxes near 44, 48, kghz, etc. sry 4 my bad english.

I'm fully sure that my receiver supports both DolbyDigital (in couple of versions) and DTS, and that has been tested and is supported for all sample rates up to and including 96 KHz.
Beside that, if you read my posts, you could see that I can produce DTS passtrough over S/PDIF but ONLY by playing movie from Windows Media Player that comes with Windows 7, and that I can hear DTS test sound from Windows 7 Sound Manager's Playback Devices tab !
So, this has to be issue either with sound card driver (but then why DTS passthrough from the Windows Media Player works ?!?), or there is some problem with a way iMEDIAN initiates DTS passthrough over S/PDIF (and this is more likely IMHO).

Just to update info on this:
I have tested DTS/DD passthrough with "Media Player Classic Homecinema" 1.3.xxx that comes with 2009-09-09 dated CCCP (www.cccp-project.net), and it manages to get both DTS and DolbyDigital passthrough over S/PDIF without any problem. I see Haali splitter and "FDDShow Video decoder" icons only on taskbar (NO "FDDShow audio" icon) and I hear sound on all 6 channels, and receivers DTS/DD indication is lit on (accrding to the type of audio in file played).
I think this rules out audio driver issue, and leaves that this seems to be an iMEDIAN HD issue under windows 7 :-( ...
I've also tried to Setup Haali spliter as spliter and FDDShow as audio and video decoders, with both DTS passthrough disabled and enabled in iMEDIAN HD, but didn't got DTS decoding on receiver nor sound.
Slash.Kim / anyone from SoundGraph - any thoughts on this ? I would really love to see this resolved, and I'm willing to test anything you propose.

I also have problems with DTS.
I'm also using Windows 7 and have just downloaded the new version of iMEDIAN HD.
I have an Asus P5Q3 Deluxe board and a set of Logitech Z5500 speakers which support DD and DTS.
Audio output is set to S/PDIF
Use External Receiver for DD and DTS passthrough is ON
When playing Dolby Digital with iMEDIAN it works perfectly.
When playing DTS with iMEDIAN i get a jumping garbled sound (if i get sound at all)
DD and DTS with Media Player Classic works perfectly.

I have "resolved" this issue, somehow, by reverting drivers for Realtek HD Audio (ALC 1200 in my case, of ASUS P4Q-EM motherboard) to Microsoft "WindowsUpdate" drivers, by installing some DirectX 9 SDK .DLLs (as required by MPC-HC and CCCP setup), and then setting Audio Output to S/PDIF, DTS and DD passtrough to ON, and Settings->Audio->Detail->Renderer to DirectX: Realtek HD Audio S/PDIF. After that both DD and DTS passtrough started to work.
Interestingly, those settings produced NO sound and playback problems (see my test results in post above) with newest Realtek Audio HD drivers from Realtek site, nor with Asus audio drivers for my motherboard from Asus site.

Hi guys,
first of all I'd like to make compliments to all the stuff for the product; it's nice, easy to use and in my mere opinion works better than lots of other front end.
Now I'll get to the issue: I recently bought a new hptc case (nox live 2) that came up with an iMon lcd.
I'm currently processing the audio signal from either the hdmi or the s/pdif wire from my pc to the receiver (H/K AVR-355).
Settings in iMediand are to use pass-through on both signals (D. Digital and DTS). Player is working absolutely fine with Dolby Digital signals but isn't working at all with DTS movies, sound is coming out and the receiver is actually showinf that no signal is sent to its input.
I can confirm what I've read in couple of posts above: any time DTS movies are selected in Imedian, file properties reports audio DTS, 1 kbps.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance.
F.

Dear Nenadr,
Could you please explain me more about the way you have solved your problem with DTS and Windows7 on the iMEDIAN HD as I am not the advanced user. Have you installed the elder version of Directx and this has resolevd your problem?
