View Full Version : Standby Issue

Hi,

I have Windows 64 bit Pro installed on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2h with an AMD 4850e & 4Gb of RAM & I'm using Media Centre.

Until recently (maybe until 1 or 2 months ago - it's only starting to really annoy me now) everything has been working satisfactorily (it's not perfect but the core bits do what I need) but for some reason the standby button on my remote (imon pad on a silverstone gd01mx) no longer puts the machine into standby - it does occassionally but not on any basis of logic that I can see, it does always turn off the display but the machine doesn't actually go to sleep.

The button works perfectly for waking up and the machine goes into standby on the basis of the windows power management timers.

I've tried setting the button to turn off rather than standby and it works perfectly so it is a problem with standy. So far everytime I have manually selected sleep from the start menu it's worked perfectly so it looks like a software issue.

I've got auto updates on so I'm up to date with Windows patches and on 7.85.0222 (I'm keying that from memory so hopefully I've got it right!) of Imon.

I've seen various threads here - this has been working so it's not a board / Windows 7 issue - I suspect that either there is some software doing something I don't know about (Microsoft or Soundgraph) or a Microsoft or Soundgraph update is causing a problem. I've disabled everything I can think of in the imon manager (so no front panel activity of any sort because that just doesn't work properly) but I've no idea where to look next so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Dear Balance,

If you assign Power button to “Power Button (PC Case)” function in iMON Manager>Settings>Windows Command>Power Management Command tab, when you press power button on the remote, iMON HW generates electric switching and makes the same action with the actual press of Power button on PC case. And it works according to Windows Power Options. You can change it in Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options.
After changing this option to “Sleep” or “Hibernate”, try to compare the action of power button on the remote and PC case.

As I said, I've already tried it using "Power" rather than standy and it works fine - I suspect it's not sending the correct standy command as sleep from the start menu works fine.

Incidentally I've also found two buttons are dead (so that's why they don't work!) - is there a source of replacement controllers somewhere in the UK please?

Dear Balance,

If you want the replacement, please contact with Silverstone and request the replacement. Because you have OEM product, you have to contact with Silverstone.

Guess what - power problem resolved. Turns out that just pressing the button like any other button turns the screen display off. Pressing and holding the power button sets the machine into standby! Bizarre & where's the documentation!
