EDIT- I was refering to the CM280
Hi Guys,
Like many, I despaired at the abysmal pickup of the remote of the built in OEM LCD- even after removing the black blocking tape, I found that you had to point the remote directly at the box- not ideal.
After a little thinking and an hour of work, I have completely fixed the problem:
I opened up the front panel and completely removed the LCD panel, keep in mind that the power switch connection and the usb connection is near impossible to remove from the board - its easier to unplug from the motherboard.
Next I used a soldering iron to remove the IR receiver, soldered in some PCB header connector (you will need to place the headers towards the back of the pcb - long ends facing away from the front of the lcd) and connected to a network cable using a little silicon board and a little more solder.
I then fed the cable out the back of the case, reconnected the IR receiver using a tiny silicon board (breadboard style) and hid directly under the TV.
The result? perfect pickup- could not work better, a simple project for anybody that knows how to use a soldering iron!
Improvements would be to place a network socket in the back of the PC to make the receiver a lot more removable.
I hope this helps anybody with a similar issue (and case) to mine.
