Hi.
A few weeks ago i bought the silverstone ml02 which has a imon vfd built in. In order to make a htpc i also bought a Zotac Ion ITX A.
Now i have a problem with the power supply of the vfd display. The Ion has a external psu, so i have no 20-pin power connection where i could connect the 3-pin power cable.
i would simply connect the power cable to a 5V-Fan connector, but the problem is, i don't know if it fits. i looked at some 3-pin 5V-Fancables but they seem diffrent from this stupid connector which is on the display ^^
so my question is:
how can i power up my display? just connect it to the 5V-Fan-adapter and hope for the best? or maybe i need an additional cable which i don't know yet.

well it would be very nice if you could help me

Dear Customer,

Please check the following thread which has some issue before. Currently, we do not have any solution to support this non-standard mainboard.

http://htpcinside.com/forums/showthread.php?t=455

But I will talk with our H/W engineer about the pin connection of our board and it might be possible that you can use +5V to our board even though you cannot power on by remote control. I will reply to this thread again after I check it.

Thanks...

thanks for the quick reply.

i guess i will just try to solder the vfd and the fan-connector. they are both 5V /GND so it should work. i can survive without powering the pc on by using the remote control. at least i get to burn some calories by getting up and switching the pc on manually ;-)
but it would be still nice if you could post what the technician said if you have his answer.
thanks

Hey guys,

I did the same. My ZOTAC Mainboard has its own power supply. Just connect the display to a 4-pin molex.

black (diplay) to black
purple (display) to red

if you want to use the display's IR, connect the red (display) one to the 5V of an USB port.

Hope this helps

Hi,

i got the exactly same issue. I bought an ASUS AT3IONT-I Deluxe and the Silverstone ML02.

I removed the internal power supply of the ML02 and now i'm trying to connect the VFD Display and the IR to the ASUS board, to no avail.

I connected the purple cable to a 5V molex and the black cable to a GND molex.

Here's a picture of how i tried to get it running:

I still havent connected the red (display) cable to anything since the ASUS board only got 2 internal USB connectors and both are eaten up by internal stuff.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
