View Full Version : Using Microsoft IR with iMon VFD

I have an OEM iMON IR/VFD device that I use with Vista Media Center and a Microsoft RC in the UK. I know that the videotext (teletext) buttons red, green, yellow, blue have no keyboard mapping and cannot be used with iMon.
So I connect a second Microsoft IR device for RC commands, and I use iMon to drive the VFD.

This means I must configure iMon IR to ignore RC commands, or else I see two button presses because both iMon IR and Microsoft IR are processing the same RC command.

But some commands are greyed-out in the iMon Manager Windows Commands dialogue, and I can't see how to delete them. The commands are up, down, left, right, enter and back.

I don't want to delete the Microsoft RC from iMon, as I still need it to boot the computer from shut-down. How do I stop iMon IR from processing these commands without deleting the Media Center RC?

Dear Pixelz,

In order to support the triple-tap SMS like character-input on Windows Media Center search menu and to support entering the numeric password on Windows Login screen, the numeric buttons, #, * and OK, BACK, Up, Down, Left, Right buttons on MCE remote are transferred through HID Keyboard driver. And these buttons can’t be mapped to other functions. If iMON connected to USB port, there is no way to stop processing these buttons in HID keyboard driver.
Please try to change “Remote Controller” to iMON PAD in iMON Manager>Settings>Remote Controller.
If you do so, you should power on with PAD remote.
Or if you don’t need to use VFD, remove iMON from USB port.
Without USB connection you can power on your system.
