I've been using iMedian 6.x for several years on three HTPCs that get all their media of a central server via the LAN.. The server has 9 media HDs with about 6.5 TB of video files, all with the same directory structure and with careful settings I can get a single "movies tree" one each HTPC. The structure is basically:-

d: - TV Shows 1 with sub dirs of docos, action, sci-fi etc etc
e: - TV Shows 2 with sud dirs of docos, action, sci-fi etc
f: - TV Shows 3 " " "
g: etc etc

In each of the above cases there are then additonal subdirectories e.g. in the case of docos, items such as "war", "natural history", "science" etc

The key point being that by creating network drives for each of the above on the HTPCs I get a single listing of docos, action and sci-fi etc, all consolidated from the various drives. It makes things very easy to navigate via a single screen as say all the docos appear under the single heading and then you navigate down a level or two to get to the sub directories as mentioned above e.g. there might be 3 war subs on disk D and another 5 on disk F and all 8 will appear as a single list.

I've played with iMedian 7.x a few times before but always went back to 6.x but thought it worth another try. I do like the interface but....

My problem is that I can't get the HTPCs to reference each of the networked (or indeed local according to my tests) drives without getting a display like:-

Videos - Docos D: Docos E: Docos F etc, i.e. no consolidation of Docos into a single list.

I've tried setting up the drives as networked drives on the HTPCs or used Network Media from iMON and the result is the same, i.e. multiple docos listings per drive letter rather than a single contents list. I've no interest in which drive holds which file, I just want to access that file easily.

Can this be done, am I being stupid etc? If not then I'm afraid it's back to version 6.x and presumably XP for the forseeable future..

Note - both server and HTPCs are running XP SP3 with all the latest updates etc. Would Windows 7 make any difference as I'm able to experiment if so? I realise that I could create a mssive spanned disk but that would be horrible if somethign went wrong....and would make my backup routine even more of a challenge...
