Hi,
I have a somewhat strange Problem.
First off. I have a GMC AVC-S1 Case that came with a build in VFD and the PAD Remote.
This combination worked like a charm for a little bit over a year.
Now, all of a sudden the Remote stopped working at a normal Range of about 2,5 m.
I can get the remote to work at a Distance to the IR Receiver of about 10 - 15 cm.
At first i thought that maybe the Batteries are dead, so i replaced them with no effect. The Problem persists. So now i used different Software Versions. Beginning from 7.20 up to the newest version. But with all Versions the Problem stays the same. So i connected the VFD to different USB Ports. I used internal and External Ports. Nothing changed.
I even bought a new PAD Remote from the Shop but the Problem is still there. Maybe the IR Receiver is not working correctly anymore? But then the strange thing is, that, when the Computer is powered off, and the VFD is off, i can turn the Computer on with the Power Button on the remote from a Distance of about 5 m with no Problem. So i guess that the IR receiver is workingg correctly. When Windows is running the remote only works at a Distance to the IR Receiver of about 10 - 15 cm. :(

I have no Idea what else could be the Problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Currently i'm using
Windows XP SP3,
Asus Xonar DX Soundcard,
Technisat DVBS2 TV Card,
AMD 64 X2 4600+

The Firmwareversion of the VFD is 0x48 and i'm using the software 7.20 again.
The Display works as it should. But not the Remote.

Edit: Forgot to mention, that sometimes, out of the blue, the remote works normal at about 2,5 m. But only for a short time.

Edit2: After booting. The Remote works for max. 5 min. and after that the nremote is dead.

Edit 3: I found out, that the GMC VFD uses 2 seperate Boards which are connected with a little cable. I disconnected the Cable, so that only the IR receiver is working. After booting into Windows the Display does not work, as it was expected. Whereas the Remote worked just like it should!! without any Problems. So i powered down the PC and reconnected the cable to the Display. Then i booted again and the Display and the remoted worked at first normal. After some time, maybe 5 min., The Display was still working, but the remote was again just dead! (not working)
Ok not completely dead. The remote is working on a short distance of 10 to 15 cm. :( :(

Hello,

I had similar problems.

I found out that one of the capacitor was disconnected.
This capacitor filter to electric noise that the display cause (The 'inner' board).

I bought a replacement capacitor and now everything work.

Maybe you have the same problem ?

Ok. Which Capacitor was disconnected and can i change the capacitor myself?
And how do i find out, that the capacitor (which one) is disconnected/defective?

Ok.
Statusupdate.
I just got the Case back from repair.
The assistant in the repair workshop confirmed what yeuda said. It was the filter circuit
that caused the problem. He replaced a capacitor, some resistors and a coil. Now everything is working like it should.

A hint to Soundgraph. Maybe you should use electrical components which are of better quality.
