For some time now, I'm trying to get a working HTPC.
How should in my picture work everything toghether?
- When I wake up the HTPC from standby, I want to be able to operate it with the Zalman remote control and/or the touchscreen.
-listening to music (mp3, cd) and radio with IMEDIANHD through optical with JVC TH25A.
- watch (HD-)TV en record from satellite with TERRATEC Home Cinema through HDMI on Sony Bravia.
- as soon as the entire system is working properly, I want to take part in cardsharing using andLinux and ccCam2.09 in order to receive more (HD)stations.
As far as I know I have installed the most recent drivers and updates.
The touchscreen has been configured as secondary, the Sony Bravia as primary as stated in the Zalman installation manual.
At the moment, mouse and keyboard are connected because of the fact that so many things have to get configured.
What is working:
When IMON/IMEDIANHD is not installed, I can watch sat-tv on the Sony using Terratec HC, swapping channels (takes abt 2 secs) has then to be done using the mouse.
What are the problems I encounter:
- When watching TV, the image sometimes freezes up for a couple of seconds or the whole system freezes up.
- The windows taskbar including the systemtray is on the Sony, the windows shortcuts are on the touchscreen.
- after installing the IMON/IMEDIAN software, Frontview completely fills the touchscreen, with the result that after opening IMON/IMEDIAN its option-screens can not be seen because they are completely hidden behind Frontview. I initially installed the version that came with the case, then the youngest version, but then back to the original. Both gave the same problem.
- No sound through optical from JVC
- No sound through HDMI from TV
My questions:
- what are the best motherboard settings for my goal? (memory etc, VIA-audioHD, ATI Catalyst software)
- how do I prevent Frontview from completely occupying the thouchscreen and therefore hindering me to set options in IMEDIANHD and other apps?
- how do I prevent Frontview from annoing me with worldcity "news" and wether? As a matter of fact I would like not seeing Frontview at all?
- With each Terratec came a remote control. Do I really need these or is it possible to just use the Zalman remote for everything?
- is it wise or nessecary to have anti-virus software running? The system is connected to the internet?
