So I recently decided to take the leap from XP to Windows 7 and I'm having some issues with getting my iMon remote and VFD setup... I don't know exactly what model I have though it's one of the OEM versions that shipped with a Silverstone case I bought 3-5 years ago. It included the 2x16 VFD display and the iMon IR remote.

So when I originally tried install the iMon software in Win7, I tried to install it over my files from XP with the hopes of keeping my original settings and remote command customizations. This led to the remote only being able to move the cursor around the screen, not of the other buttons responded. The VFD worked, but when using WinAmp it wouldn't detect that winamp was running and switch to Media info mode.

So I figured the smart thing to do would be to uninstall it, delete the iMon directories, and do a fresh install of the software. I did this, rebooted, let iMon upgrade itself to 7.78.1125, and rebooted again.

Now it doesn't work at all. The display is blank, the remote doesn't respond, and iMon says the H/W is disconnected. I've tried rebooting, completely shutting down and unplugging the computer, unplugging and plugging back in the USB cable, but nothing works.

I'm dual-booting the system with my original XP install and iMon still works fine there, which leads me to believe it's a software issue.

Can you suggest some steps or methods to help resolve this issue? Is there are more thorough way to remove the iMon software before reinstalling it? Thanks.

I've tried the latest beta and I'm still having issues. It seems to be something with the driver. It's showing as an Unknown Device in Device Manager. It's not finding the driver and when I point it at the driver directory it says it found the driver to the device, but encountered an error attempting to install it. Then it says SG Remote Control Device (x64). "There is no driver selected for the device information set or element."

I've tried different USB ports, but it hasn't helped.

Thoughts?

I'm really tired of XP, it would be nice if I could use Windows 7. :/

Dear fallenturtle,

Please try to install driver with C:\Program Files (x86)\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON\system\driver\driver_x64 folder. If the problem continues, tr to update main board BIOS and USB driver.

Actually I decided to format and reinstall Windows before I got this message and that seem to work, but if it stops working again, I'll try this out. Thanks.

I've an old iMON VFD in my DIGN case, when I try to install the drivers for win 7 64-bit, the system cannot find a proper driver.

After several attempts I found this solution:

- download the latest iMON installer and install iMON
- enter into the driver_x64 folder (you can find it under unzipped installer folder, or under the \Program Files (x86)\SoundGraph\iMON\system\driver\driver_x64)
- make a copy of the iMON_x64.inf, rename it ( for example iMON_VFD_x64.inf )
- open this file with a text editor and replace the signature:
USB\VID_15C2&PID_FFDC with USB\VID_0AA8&PID_FFDA
anywhere it is present (2 occurrencies)
- go to control panel set manually the drivers for your unknown device (use the driver_x64 folder where the iMON_VFD_x64.inf is placed )
