Hi folks,
I need your help!!
I already installed different versions of iMon.
1) The software distributed by Silverstone on CD (Ver. 6.2)
2) The Windows 7 version, downloaded from your Site (Ver. 7_42_0911)
3) The newest Version downloaded from SOUNDGRAPH (Ver. 7.77.1022)
The result always is the same. Nothing is displayed on the LCD-Panel. I read the Docu and the Forums, tried all settings and compatibility modes and security hints. No chance! (Never found the option to choose between VFD and LCD. This is documented but not available)
The panel turns off when iMon is stopped and comes on when iMon is restarted. That’s it. The IR is working. No issues with that.
Hardware: GD01MX, Mainboard POV/ION230 (drivers updated)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (new installation)
All components are new and it is the first build.

Hi
I am running the same case witohut problems.
- Win 7 (x64)
- iMon ONLY Ver. 7.77.1022 (imedian HD NOT installed)
Most functions work fine, but not all (ie can not us 24 hour clock)
There is a beta up, but then first you have to upgrade fron iMon software and THAT does not work (never downloads 7.78 from options menu)
Have you installed the cables from the display and in the correct way??
Especially the one to the USB header on the MoBo? (i guess this is the com channel to the MoBo)
If yes, is the USB header active in the bios (most bioses allows you to turn of USB headers).

Hi :-)
There are 4 internal USB-connectors on the Mobo. They all look the same.
Setup does not offer USB-Header to toggle.
Device Manager shows all USB-devices ok and using MS-drivers. Is this correct?

Can somebody please act and give me support ?
As far as I understand the problem is NOT related to the Win7 Version. In general the display seems to able to work (see Boogieman above)
Please provide steps to check HW and SW to make the display work.
Please publish information of all related USB-Devices, drivers and versions so I can verify in Device Manager.

Today I tried to get the display working. Again no success!!
What I did:
1) Installed IMON from CD provided with the case (Silerstone) on my Laptop running Vista 32 bit as Administrator. Display not connected during installation.
2) After reboot IMON started and shows up in yellow.
IMON Manager is ver. 6.20.0830 and shows LCD OEM HID, IMON Firmware is 0x380208
3) Connected Display to USB
4) IMON becomes blue
5) Device manager detects Human Interface Device and 4 devices undernieth:
a. HID compatable Device
b. USB-HID
c USB-HID
d. USB-HID
Scanning new hardware, as described in Installation Guide, detects nothing new.
All drivers used by the new USB-devices are MS based.
When trying to search for new drivers for each of the USB-devices, following message appears:
The newest driver is already installed!!
The Display still does not show any character!
Stopping IMON causes the display to turn off. Starting turns on the display. That's all
What else can I do? Please help. I'm getting

Dear berndmkIII,
Sorry for delay in reply to your thread. Title of thread you mentioned your product is GD01MX Silverstone case. This case has LCD Module not VFD module. Is your problem is right from when you bought or after using the product for some time your LCD is not displaying. From your post IR is working and USB is also detected properly and only LCD is not working. If LCD is not working right from the beginning then there might be good possibility that your LCD hardware is some problem. Please contact where purchased the device and ask for replacement. FingerUI is software interface for new FingerVU products so installing FingerUI might not help in solving your problem or update driver for your product. If any other case please do get back to here.

Hi gokul.s,
thx for responding.
1st of all. Installing the fingerVU stuff, only was a desperate attempt. I know. Just gave it a try.
Today I spent a little bit more time and found the following threads here in the forum:
http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2866 (that's this one)
http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1023 (Date: 10-31-2009, 06:26 AM)
http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?t=760 (Date: 10-16-2009, 05:22 PM)
http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?t=501 (Date: 09-17-2009, 08:49 AM)
All these users report the same issue and it shows it is a known ongoing problem!!
Pointing to a hardware problem will not solve the issue. Do you think all displays are broken? (Silverstone charges approx. 100 USD for replacement!!)
Let's sit together and nail down the root cause. I'm ready to assist and provide any information you need. In the meanntime I collected info from the following sites:
http://forums.lcdsmartie.org
http://www.mediacentermagic.com
http://www.imonplugin.com
http://www.lcdmodkit.com/
http://libusb-win32.sourceforge.net/
Downloaded and tried all I could. No success. I assume USB-Drivers not installed and/or assigned correct?
I thing we should start from here:
1) How to verify correct USB-drivers are installed and in use.
2) Let me know the processes and services expected in Task Manager and Services
3) Frontview is set to always ON
4) With only the LCD-Display connected to USB I have:
Human Interface Device
--HID-compliant device
--USB Input Device
--USB Input Device
I'd expect to see some kind of OUTPUT-Device here?

Dear berndIII,
1) How to verify correct USB-drivers are installed and in use.
Please find link below for FAQ about HID driver.
http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/faq.php?faq=sg_sw_imon_manager#faq_faq_imon_manage r_remote
HID device uses native windows USB driver. IR and LCD use same USB driver.
When device is connected, if iMON indicator at desktop truns blue from yellow color and if you can read Firmware version of the device then USB Drivers are loaded properly. If only USB device drivers are loaded then only you can read Firmware version of device from Device. You mentioned IR is working then there is no issues with USB driver.
2) Let me know the processes and services expected in Task Manager and Services
iMON.exe is the process needed to be shown in Task Manager.
Though i replied to your question i don't think there is any issues above two points (USB driver or iMON.exe) in your case as IR is working and also you can read Firmware version from iMON Manager.
I have discussed your issue with our technical team, conclusion is,
At this situation it is hard to distinguish this issue, whether H/W or S.W related. Need to create test program to analyze this issue. Technical team will prepare test program with in a week. i will reply to you as soon it is ready. Please kindly bear with us.
I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Hi gokul.s,
thank you.
As far as I understand IMON uses Frontview to write information to VFD / LCD and IMON only reads Firmware and if device is present the knob turns from yellow to blue.
Just in case Frontview is incompatible, has an error or uses wrong API or USB-Driver is wrong (read onlyl) nothing will be displayed on VFD.
For that reason I wanted to debug or trace IMON and Frontview.
Question: Is Frontview supposed to appear in Task Manager or in Services when configured to be permanently on?
Just downloaded last patch will test when I'm home.
Keep you posted,
Bernd

Removed previous installation and used regedit to erase all known entries from registry.
Disconnected USB-LCD - Reboot - Installed 7_77_1022_01
Reboot - Installed Patch 7_84_0202_Beta
Reboot - Connected USB-LCD - Reboot
Nothing displayed on LCD. RC not working. Only Cursor can be moved and Taskbar pops up.
Verifying IMON settings. New features are available as anounced. RC starts to work.
Still nothing displayed on LCD

Hi! I'm back ;-)
Spend some more time investigating the problem.
The registry shows a lot of redundant entries where the classguid is found used in iMON_VFD.inf. Hope this will not disturb and iMon still knows which entry to use
When I look at Windows error reporting there are entries related to Soundgraph.
Don't know how to attach a file here. What you get is an extract.
Please forward the info to your developers. Hope it helps:

Another question:
Is TG_iMON.sys driver correct.? This driver is installed in System32/drivers.

Dear BerndmkIII,
I’m really sorry for your inconvenience.
You don’t to use “iMON_VFD.inf” or “TG_iMON.sys”. It is for old model.
Please check LCD display with the test program from the link below as follows.
http://download.soundgraph.com/path/Test/iMONTest.zip
1. Close iMON.
2. Run “iMONTest.exe” and click “LCD Display Test” button.
3. Click “Send On state” button.
4. Check if Text, Icon, Progress and Contrast are working with send button and slide bar.
After this test, please let me know the result and there is any difference when “Close driver for IR check during display check” option is checked or not.

Johnny Hur

Good job :)
Connecting the LCD to Vista 32bit Laptop and using the iMONTest works fine. All tests ok
Will test WIN7 32 bit on Monday.
 .inf and .sys not used
What to install to make it work ?

It's done! LCD works ;)
What I did. Repeated the test with the LCD mounted to SS-case. Nothing.
Took the SS-Case apart and swapped the LCD (delivered on Friday).
Scratched my hand and spead a million drops of blood over the SS-case :o
Put all stuff together and it works
Now sitting here with a drink in front, watching and listening my favorite vids. Pink Floyd ! (currenty A delicate sound of thunder)
Next step is to run through the manuals to get the settingd I want, connect to large TV and sound sytem and lock all doors :D
Thank you very much for your patience and support.
