When playing H264 content from my harddrive, the video is a bit choppy.
My GPU and CPU is only 10-20% with DXVA enabled, but still video is not 100% smooth.
System:
CPU: Core2 3.0 Ghz.
GFX: ATI 4850HD 1 GB.
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
Windows Vista 64 Bit

Hi leecher!
I dont know which codec iMEDIAN HD uses for H264 content, but i know Soundgraph have the following targeted release for Aug 30:
(5) [New Feature] Support iMEDIAN HD Codec Configuration Utility.
This utility should allow you to change whatever codec you wanna use.
Can recommend CoreAVC decoder. Works great and are really smooth.

I know CoreAVC but I was really hoping not to use any software decoder.
CoreAVC delivers smooth playback, but the picture quality is a bit decreased when comparing with hardware decoded H264.

Are you sure you dont confuse hardware decoding with hardware acceleration? I was under the impression you must have some kind of software codec which enables the hardware acceleration, but i can of course be wrong :)

Yes. My mistake ;-)
I thought my GFX could decode video, but it only accelerate the decoding.
Maybe CoreAVC is the way to go then. Does automatic subtitle load work when using CoreAVC? This is a very nice feature that works perfect in IMON when using internal decoder.

No prob, we all do'em :D

Subtitlerenderer should not have anything to do with CoreAVC. It's an OSD feature and the subtitlerenderer should lie within the iMEDIAN HD software, so the answer should be yes.

Dear leecher,
In order to adjust the codec filter setup, please refer the FAQ (http://htpcinside.com/forums/faq.php?faq=sg_sw_imedianhd#faq_sg_faq_sw_imedianh d_codec).
You could try to disable DxVA of internal decoder and to use external decoder like CoreAVC.
Thanks and best regards,
