IMON RSC remote and laptop IR receiver

Can I use a laptop IR receiver for this remote?
I have bought this one for use it in laptop but I don't know how to use it

Dear nethacker,

Do you mean you purchased iMON RSC remote/IR receiver package such as attached image? If you do and remote controller seems not to work correctly, please capture the screen of Windows Device Manager when iMON IR receiver is connected to your system via USB port. And please let us know which OS your are running.
