View Full Version : Antec Fusion Remote Black : No more content on LCD

Hi,

I recently bought my first Antec Fusion Remote Black with LCD, and I really liked it
I had all the news, system info etc... displayed on the LCD.

Sunddenly after an upgrade to iMon version 7.77.1022 (ANTEC) (firmware 0x380208 LCD HID OEM), nothing else is displayed.
The LCD has backlight, but no way to have it display content as before.
I reboot the PC, truned it of and on the PC, switched the usb cabling to other slots, install back version from the install CD... no way !
The only reaction the LCD has is when I select "Run frontview when iMon Starts" where the back light flashs to acknowledge the command (I assume).

I am wondering if the LCD failed, or is it only a firmware issue that can be solved somehow? or is there any diagnostic tool I could run? driver probably?

Anyway, I really need your help Please.

Dear drac2000,

I’m really sorry that I did let you know wrong thread by mistake.
This thread is similar with yours. You’re right.
http://www.soundgraph.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1400

Please let me know followings. It will helpful to solve this problem.
1. Did you try with the test version of SG_VFD.dll in above thread? Then, how does it work?
2. Does the remote work?
3. Check that "Run FrontView when iMON starts" is set to “Automatically” and “Turn On/Off FrontView” is set to “Disable”.
4. Did you check with 7.60.0521 version again?
5. What kind of main board do you have?
6. Open “Device Manager”, expand sub-items of Universal Serial Bus Controller and capture it.

Hi, I am not the OP, but I seem to have the exact same problem.
The LCD backlight is on, but nothing is displayed. I only see any reaction on the LCD when I change Frontview to 'always' or 'automatic', then it flashes just like in the original post.
The difference is, I never saw anything on the LCD, this is a brand new system, with brand new Windows 7 Pro 64 bit OEM installed.
My specs:
Antec Remote Fusion Silver
Gigabyte P55M-UD2 motherboard
The remote seems to work perfectly
The installation disk that came with the Antec case seems to have Imon drivers dated 2006. The software automatically updated itself to 7.7 something, I assume the latest driver. There is no difference in LCD or remote behavior with either drivers.
I don't know where to find the older driver file 7.6 that is referenced.
I don't know what to do with the referenced .dll file.

I'm not sure if I hooked up everything correctly, the Antec instructions don't say anything about the LCD, except for the small 3 wire power cable, which is hooked up. There was also another two prong cable with blue and white wires that look like a two prong version of the old molex connector which I hooked up to a molex power connector. I hooked up the LCD USB cable to the motherboard, not an external USB connector.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but I also hooked up the case power wires to the LCD and the LCD power wires to the motherboard to enable power on/off from either the case or the remote, and that works perfectly. Is the LCD module broken? The case arrived with the LCD module not aligned in the case window, I had to take the front cover off and realign it. I hope to avoid having to do that because I had a hard time screwing it back on.
Attached is the capture of the USB Controllers.

I unhooked the blue and white wire, it controls the light around the power button.
I also tried hooking up the LCD USB cable to a USB port instead of the motherboard. Windows detected it, installed USB composite drivers but nothing changed.
I still only have a backlight.
I'm out of ideas.

Can I buy a replacement LCD that would work? And look like the one in the retail Imon products instead of the Antec OEM LCD? I have not found any satisfied owner of the Antec OEM LCD, so it sounds like a replacement would be the way to go instead of figuring out what's wrong with the LCD shipped in the Antec case. Please let me know if you sell such a thing, and where and when and how much.
thank you

Dear kisrita,

I’m sorry for your inconvenience.
First of all, I think we should find that it is HW issue or SW issue.
Please check if LCD works as follows.
1. Run iMON.
2. Uninstall “USB Composite Device” for iMON. (If you check Hardware ids, it starts with vid 15c2) Then Indicator turns to yellow ring.
3. Right-click other device and select “Scan for hardware changes”. Then Indicator turns to blue ring again.

And although currently it is delayed, we’ll open online shop till the end of this month.
Please check it later.

Hi,
Thanks for your help, sorry to get back to this late.

I uninstalled the USB Composite driver, and the blue ring on the outside of the indicator turned yellow or grey, it's hard to tell, but it said H/W diconnected.
I selected scan and it reinstalled the driver and the indicator turned blue again (outside ring only).

I have the latest 7.78 software installed.
I'm also having some trouble with some remote functionality that worked fine before. Buttons work fine when I map them to new software, but volume in windows and windows media center and the volume knob stopped working. This may have happened after uninstalling the initial software that came from Antec (which automatically updated). I uninstalled the original, reinstalled windows and installed only the 7.77 software from your site, which I have upgraded to 7.78 with no difference in behavior.

The desktop indicator shows that I've pressed volume up or down and shows mute, but the actual volume is not changing.

Any suggestions?

Dear kisrita,

After uninstalling and re-installing USB driver, does LCD start to display?
If so, does it work after reboot?

And about volume problem, please check if “Soundcard Device” in iMON Manager>Option>System is set your actual sound output device.

Thank you Johnny,

Your advice fixed the volume problem. It now works like it should.

But the LCD still doesn't display anything but the backlight. I can turn the backlight on and off in the Frontview settings, but there are no characters displayed on it ever. Just a blue/purple backlight. I also noticed that selecting turn LCD off during video playback does not turn the LCD backlight off. No changes after uninstalling, reinstalling and rebooting. no changes between different version of drivers.

I did see a similar post that was solved after the user found that a connector on the LCD panel came loose and had reconnected it. This is something I am unable to check without taking the front panel off. Which was so difficult to reinstall, I don't want to do it again, until I have a new - better LCD, one with better contrast, lilke in the pictures for the non-OEM products. If your store will offer a better LCD, I would like to buy it, whether or not mine is broken, just to have the better display. Please let me know if you will be offering such a product? If not, then I have to find a way to fix the one the Amtec case came with. Any suggestions?
thank you for your help.

Dear All,

Currently it is vague to say this is caused by HW problem or SW problem. I think that we need to make a test program that can determine HW problem or SW problem. We’ll provide this program. Please wait for a while And check all HW connections for iMON again and check if it works with the previous versions at the link below.

Dear All,

I’m really sorry for your inconvenience.

Please check LCD display with the test program from the link below as follows.
http://download.soundgraph.com/path/Test/iMONTest.zip

1. Close iMON.
2. Run “iMONTest.exe” and click “LCD Display Test” button.
3. Click “Send On state” button.
4. Check if Text, Icon, Progress and Contrast are working with send button and slide bar.

After this test, please let me know the result and there is any difference when “Close driver for IR check during display check” option is checked or not.

Heya,

I have the same problem, LCD backlit, just nothing wants to display, It use to work fine, but then suddenly out of nowhere when restarting the machine, the display got garbled, it displayed the time, but the top and bottom part of the LCD basically swopped around. After another restart, it stopped displaying anything. I have downloaded every version of the iMON sotware and tested.

Clean install every time .. Deleted
C:\Program Files\SOUNDGRAPH;
C:\Users\<logonname>\Appdata\SOUNDGRAPH;
Even removed the Registry entries

I have read alot of posts to try and solve my problem. The TEST application as provided also doesnt display anything with “Close driver for IR check during display check” check or unchecked

Currently i am running
Version of iMON 7.84.0202
LCD HID OEM FirmWARE : 0x380208 (from a "Zalman HD503")

I am really running out of idea's and anything i could try would be welcome

After posting the last time, i shut the machine down, took the whole thing apart and put it back together again, after that it didn't display ... how could something like a power failure do this ?

All i know is everything is sorted for time being so i am HappY :D

I opened the test program as requested.

FW Version: 0x3801

After running test, the first window states the the FW Version Failed to Open

None of the information regarding text or icons is sending to the lcd display on the htpc case.

When I toggle the Close IR driver... option, the first window states that the FW Version is 0x3801, however none of the information for text or icons passes to the LCD.

Hi I tried this but the only thing that happens is when I click 'Send on State', the light comes on and the arrow moves to the middle of the contrast bar. Nothing is displayed when I click 'send' next to text or below the icon section. I tried it without IR check, option=same result. Moving the arrows on the progress or contrast bar does nothing either.
Is my LCD bad?
When will you be selling these LCDs? I notice the shop is up, but the LCDs are out of stock.
Thanks,
Rita

I had this problem of the LCD not displaying anything but backlight, after I unplugged my PC despite it all working perfectly before.
I had tried everything reinstalling, unplugging/plugging the usb, I tried the test program and that didn`t work at all.
The way I sorted the problem was mentioned in another post here where the guy opened up the unit and unplugged the white plug with 3 wires on the back of the unit then plug it back in again while the power was on. Doing it when the power was off didn`t work for me.

Engineer

I have tried unplugging with power and off. The test program switches the display on and off but no image or text is visible. I have also tried another Antec box and the same poblem exists on that as well. There was a bug fix scheduled but it has since disappeared from the list of things to do. Surely there must be fix if so many people are experiencing this issue.

Hi

I have bought the Fusion Remote Black case a few weeks ago. Want to use it using Win7 Ultimate & 7MC. But I have the same problem as described above here. The Test program that was released here gives the same result as other collegues had: "fw version failed to open". So all buttons are greyed out. Removed (using FAQ) and reinstalled soft several times. Plugged USB in different slots, ...

Please give an appropriate solution. This is not the way such a product should be released on the market.

Thanks

Dear All,

I’m really sorry for the late reply. There were some mistakes or this delay.

First of all, please check all cable connection again (if possible re-connect all) and try to connect iMON LCD to other USB port including the externals.
When you test LCD with iMONTest.exe, if it displays FW version and LCD doesn’t display any text or icon, LCD may have HW problem. If so, please contact with the shop you bought this product and request the replacement.

Dear Johnny,

good see that someone is actually checking. I have tried all suggestions including trying the firmware on another Antec box and the same outcome. The odds of all these people having backlight on and no display cannot mean a faulty LCD. Sometime back in your things to do list you had a bug fix listed for this but it seems this has been removed.

Dear Engineer,

As it doesn’t happen in our test lab, it is little vague to say it comes from SW or HW problem because we don’t know the exact cause of this problem. But in our test systems and most of users even same FW version it works fine . It seems that the possibility of HW problem is much bigger than that of SW.

Hello,
i got the same problem on my Zahlman HD503, last beta software.

it work fine till the day i make a complete power of. i take out the power plug because standby is expensive (tv, blue ray player, dvd player, receiver and the Zahlman HD503).

when i put the power plug in (hope you know what i mean, my english is bad, sorry), display shows no content, start the Zahlman HD503 nothing changes, only backlight.

i control all cables, deinstalling the software, test it with final software, beta software, try the testprogram from this thread, nothing changes. i can only turn on and of the backlight.

than i shut down, plug of all powercables again, plug on, display only backlight, start zahlman HD503 and the contant is back, full funktion...

dont know why, its the same phenomen like other users here report.

maybe it is helpfull... and now i dont take the power complette of, but thats not right... hope that you can fix it... sometimes...

again, sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand what i mean, some passages i translate with google...

Hi Johnny, sorry for the delay in replying.

I didn't update/change *anything*, which is why I thought it was an auto-update from you guys. I have Win 7 set to auto-update also so it *could* be an update from Microsoft that fixed it, but I doubt that would be the case.

I didn't open the case to check connections either, nor change hardware, so the fix wasn't hardware related.

Sorry I can't explain better, it just started working again one day.

Dear subdural,

As I said before, it’s very difficult to find what exactly causes this problem because this problem hasn’t happened in our test lab. But if LCD doesn’t work with “iMONTest.exe”, there may be a cable problem or LCD problem itself.
http://download.soundgraph.com/path/Test/iMONTest.zip

Even though your LCD started to work again, I think that the same problem may happen again later. If you can remember what was changed in your system before working again, especially new HW install or driver update or Windows update, please let me know it. It may be helpful to figure out this problem.

Dear Johnny,

was a solution ever found for this? I have the same problem with a brand new Silverstone MFP51 on a clean windows 7 install, latest Imon version and the display is only showing the backlight.

I tried all the things suggested in this thread (numerous full AC power cycles, etc...), but nothing is displayed. The only thing I can do is turn on and off the backlight with the test program.

Should I return the unit or is there a known solution?
