Recently, I upgraded my motherboard to AsRock A785GMH/128M and upgraded to iMon 7.77.1022.01 at the same time.
I chose to show Graphic EQ for all sound as usual.
I selected to monitor “HD Audio Rear Output”.
However, the iMon program chased.
I need to manually device in the Imon.ini file.
Pls inform whether this is a bug.

Dear Bigcowboy,
Please try to select other EQ source like “HD Audio Output” in iMON Manager>iMON Utilities>FrontView>Graphic Equalizer tab.
If the problem continues, let me know what are displayed in EQ source.

Dear Johnny,
I selected other EQ source as informed.
There are only 3 choices:
1. HD Audio Front Mic input
2. HD Audio Rear Input
3. HD Audio Rear Outpout.
For your inf. I use VIA 6.60e driver for the onboard sound card. The sound card driver is freshly re-installed.I connect the Front Panel Audio Header to a AC'97 front panel as instructed in the motherboard manual. I choose same sound output to both the rear and front panel.Master volume is 100%)
When selected other EQ source as suggested the following happened accordingly:
1. HD Audio Front Mic input:
iMon crashed and closed automatically.
2. HD Audio Rear Input
"Auto Scan" did working abnormallly. After scanning, it stopped in the "Mic" source but the "Apply" button did not come on.
If I pressed the "OK" button, the iMon VFD did not change to EQ mode.
3. HD Audio Rear Outpout.
iMon crashed and closed automatically.
If I manually changed the device number to =2 in the iMon.ini file, then the iMon.exe can be launched normally and EQ source "HD Audio Rear Outpout" is shown.
The EQ sound bar can then be shown on the VFD.
However, after reboot, the EQ sound bar cannot be shown on the VFD.The setting inside the iMon Manager is still "HD Audio Rear Outpout" .
Awaiting your reply.
thanks

Dear Bigcowboy,
I’m really sorry that I would like to say “HD Audio Input” but I did mistake.
Please try to select “HD Audio Rear Input”. Then some mixer lines will be displayed.
If you see radio button beside the mixer line name, select “Stereo Mixer”.
And if you see check box, uncheck “Recording Control” and “Stereo Mixer”.
The mixer line name can be different with yours. Please choose the similar name.

Dear Johnny,
I selected HD Audio Rear Input (from HD Audio Rear Output). I noticed that the "Auto Scan" button did not appear.
I saw the radio buttons beside the mixer line name. There is no check box.
I selected “Stereo Mixer”. However, the "Apply" button was grey.
After, moving the EQ Peak Level bar in the EQ Setting Section, I could then press the Apply and Save buttons. And I pressed them accordingly and closed the iMon Manager. However, no EQ bar was shown on the VFD. [note: I am sure that I pressed Apply and Save correctly.]
I re-opened the iMon Manager and found that the "Auto Scan" button appeared but the radio button shifted to the first radio button “Mic” (by the iMon Manager itself i.e. the previous setting cannot be saved.)
I manually selected “Stereo Mixer” again and the "Apply" button was again grey. I moved the EQ Peak Level bar in the EQ Setting Section again and then pressed the Apply and Save buttons as before.
I closed the iMon Manager again. However, no EQ bar was shown on the VFD
If I changed the iMon Utilities from Auto mode to EQ Mode, the VFD will go into dark for a while and then displayed the words “Graphic EQ Mode” and no EQ bar appeared.
I re-opened the iMon Manager and the radio button “Stereo Mixer” was on.
However, after I re-boot the PC and re-opened the iMon Manager, the radio button changed to “Mic” again.
I did the above test while playing a moive.
Please be reminded that the above happened after I switched to a new motherboard.
Awaiting your reply.

Dear Bigcowboy,
I’m sorry for my late reply.
I think that you might install other application that uses MIC function like Skype and it seems to change recording line selection after boot.
Please check it out.
In iMON Manager you can change the recording line selection of your system but iMON doesn’t save it.
Because user may change to other line manually, iMON doesn’t change it forcedly.

Dear Johnny,
Thank you for your reply. I understand the points mentioned in your reply. My installed programs may changed the recording line selection but I do not aware of any such program installed.
However, the key point is that the iMon VFD screen did not show any EQ bar immediately after setting (before re-booting).
Awaiting your reply.
thanks

Dear Bigcowboy,
Please check the followings.
1. Play music file with Winamp
2. Check EQ display with changing line selection in iMON Manger.
3. Check if you can record system sound with Start>All Programs>Accessaries>Entertainment>Sound Recorder.
And try to update soundcard driver to the latest version at the manufacturer's web site.
After check, let me know the result and capture EQ page in iMON Manger.

Dear Johnny,
Thank you for your reply.
I now founded that it is the sound card driver tools VIA HD Audio Deck that cause the problem. The VIA HD Audio Deck will be automatically loaded into the Windows tools bar on reboot. The recording input setting will be automatically set to Microphone upon loading of the VIA HD Audio Deck.
If I set the recording input source to Mixer inside the VIA HD Audio Deck and then go to iMON Manager>iMON Utilities>FrontView>Graphic Equalizer tab and move the EQ Peak Level bar in the EQ Setting Section and then pressed the Apply button, the iMon VFD screen will show EQ bars immediately.
If I then “Exit” the VIA HD Audio Deck (this will stop it from running) and then re-run it again, the iMon VFD screen will stop showing the EQ bars immediately.
I did the above test while playing a movie.
The sound card driver is already the latest one.
I am contacting Asrock for this problem.
In the mean time, please inform any way I can stop VIA HD Audio Deck from running after boot?
Or please help to write a macro command to automate mentioned setting inside iMon Manager.
Please be reminded that the above happened after I switched to a new motherboard.
Awaiting your reply.
thanks
Bigcowboy.

Dear Johnny,
Further to my last reply above.
I now moved the VIA HD Audio Deck.exe file to another drive so that it will not be loaded upon boot up.
I managed to have iMon VFD screen show the EQ bars by going to iMON Manager>iMON Utilities>FrontView>Graphic Equalizer tab and move the EQ Peak Level bar in the EQ Setting Section and then pressed the Apply button. The recording input source shown in iMon Manager is Mixer already so I do not need to change that. The iMon VFD screen will show EQ bars immediately.
If I did not do the above steps EQ bars will not be shown on iMon VFD screen.
In the mean time, please help to write a macro command to automate mentioned setting inside iMon Manager.
Awaiting your reply.
thanks

Dear Johnny,
Further to my previous replies above.
Asrock now sent me a new sound driver VIA v7700RC4.
The recording input setting now will NOT jump to Mic. after re-boot.
The iMon Manager also confirm that the recording input setting is MIXER.
However, I still need to go to iMON Manager>iMON Utilities>FrontView>Graphic Equalizer tab and move the EQ %.before any EQ bars can be shown on the have iMon VFD screen.
Also, for your information, I already upgrade my iMon softwares to the most updated version.
If I did not do the above steps EQ bars will not be shown on iMon VFD screen after booting.

Dear Bigcowboy,
Do you mean “EQ Peak Level” option isn’t saved?
EQ Level in FrontView is affected by Master volume, Wave volume, Recording Mixer volume and “EQ Peak Level” option. Among these values, only “EQ Peak Level” option is internally saved in iMON. Please adjust these values.
