View Full Version : Windows 7 Imon 7.7 Invalid argument

I am getting an "Invalid argument was incounted" with the last two versions of Imon. I have a Thermaltake DH102 case with the 7" LCD Touch screen. The previous beta version works reasonably with a few functions not active, but when ever i try to install this current version, after reboot it keeps coming up with the above message and cannot get out of it. I have tried a complete new reinstall and made sure I have uninstalled the previous version first, but same error.

Any ideas??

Dear aienco,

I’m sorry for your inconvenience.
Does it happen when you manually run iMON after crash?
Please update your soundcard driver to the latest version and try again after disabling network connection.
And let me know the result.

It happens when Imon automatically starts upon start up or when i run it manually. I have an Asus Commando Motherbaord and I have just installed the latest sound card drivers from their website but the problem still persists...

It keeps flashing "An invalid argument was encountered" and the only way to get out of it is by cnt alt del and ending the process. This only happens with the last 3 versions of Imon, it did not happen with the beta version 7.6

Any ideas welcome. Thank you.

After installing a New DFI motherboard and Fresh install of Windows 7 The problem still occurs. I have noticed if I un plug the 7" LCD Screen from the video port, the error message does not occur.

I have the same problem (invalid argument) - this error appears, when I cancel display of the information on a sound on the display (front view settings) . It is corrected by updating of this parametre in a file .ini.

Dear Simply_Sasha,

Did you solve this problem even when FrontView is running? Please let me know what kind of parameter you changed exactly. I think it will be helpful to solve this problem.

I had this (or similar) problem after upgrading iMON. After investigating the problem, it turned out that if you've unchecked all the system resource reports on frontview (i.e., "I don't want to see any CPU, RAM or HDD info on my LCD"), iMON gets into an "invalid argument" loop which can be stopped only by killing the process.

If I select at least one resource (any resource), the problem goes away.

This was not a problem in previous versions of iMON.

The above might help you to pinpoint the problem.

Also, a question from me - is there no way today to specify "no system resources on LCD for me, please"?

Dear doron,

Thanks for your report. I tried as you said but it didn’t happen. If possible, please backup setting with “Backup” button on IMON Manager” and send it to me, johnny.hur@soundgraph.com. I think it would be much helpful to solve this problem.

Also, a question from me - is there no way today to specify "no system resources on LCD for me, please"?
Do you want display message when no system information is selected?

I too am now having this same problem. I'm running 7.78.1125 on Windows 7 64-bit with a Silverstone GDMT-02 case. I wasn't having this problem until I selected a music file to play on a network. Everything was playing, but when I rebooted the computer then iMon started this behavior. This error dialog is being displayed 3-4 times every second, then it seems to delay for another second before doing it again. Multiple dialogs with this error message are displayed on top of each other, so it's not even waiting for me to click "ok".

I'm only guessing, but it feels like iMon is failing to find something via the network but it's in a loop which keeps trying. I did try reloading a backup file but it continues to happen. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to use the computer at all now because this error message keeps getting presented so quickly.

What else can I or any other customer do to help you find & fix this problem? This bug not only prevents iMon from working, it effectively prevents anyone from even using the computer without going to the task manager to explicitly kill iMon. Unfortunately my wife won't do that, so for now, this computer is worthless to my wife :=(

I am willing to help you fix this, so please tell me how. I will send you any file from my computer, I will run a debug version for you, and I'll even let you remote into this one computer during the few hours that I am home at night. I'm willing to help you, so please tell me what I can do.

Do you have a debug version which creates an extensive log file? If so, please make it available so I can run it and then send you the log file. I am running Windows 7 64-bit.

Hey Johnny.Hur, can you get us a version with logging or something else that will help debug this?

I am sorry for a delay with the answer.

For refusal of a conclusion of the information on system on the case display (in FrontView) it is necessary to clean marks in checkbox corresponding to the processor, memory, a sound etc.

As soon as I clean a mark in checkbox, responsible for a sound, I have at once a message "Invalid argument".

I found a way out replacement 0 on 1 in a file.ini in the line which is responsible for the given parametre FrontView. Unfortunately, I now do not have access to system and to specify a field I am more exact I can not, but this parametre is easy to define.

I just applied the update and the problem still exists. Immediately after rebooting, I get the repeating error message. I have to explicitly kill iMon32.exe within the task manager to get it to stop and simply be able to use the computer for anything else.

I should add that I also completely uninstalled all iMon software and rebooted. Next I reinstalled iMON_7_77_1022_01 and immdiately after rebooting, the problem started up again. Since the problem didn't originally start until I specified a network drive for music, I suspect there is still a setting somewhere (either on the drive or in the registry) that it might still be reading which is causing the problem. I've timed the dialog and it appears to display again & again every 2 seconds. So whatever you have in your code that loops every 2 seconds is causing the repeating dialog that makes my computer completely useless.

Where are all the settings stored for the iMon software? I'd like to try to really, completely uninstall iMon include all such settings.

I'd also like you to provide a debug version with extra logging information. Since this problem is 100% repeatable, I can help you find the problem if you just give me some tools/logging to be able to do so.

I've just found at least one registry setting that is NOT properly removed when uninstalling iMON. On 64-bit Windows 7, after uninstalling, there remains an HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\SOUNDGRAPH registry section. I understand Wow6432Node is for 32-bit applications that are running on 64-bit Windows, so I don't know if that has to do with it, but iMON is not cleaning up after itself. Among the remaining registry entries there is an iMON\Ver key with a value of 7.84

More registry settings remain after uninstallation. HKCU\Software\SOUNDGRAPH

carteriii

Well, I uninstalled and then did my best to remove all remaining registry settings, then I also deleted the remaining files in the \Program Files (x86)\SOUNDGRAPH folder. After reinstallation, I still get the repeating error messages. Would you PLEASE offer some assistance? Give me a debug version of some sort that logs information so we can figure out what is happening. I'm offering to help you debug this, but you're basically ignoring me. Don't you care?

Dear carteriii,

I’m really sorry for my late reply and appreciate your interest on our product.

In order to clean install iMON, please try as follows.
1. Remove iMON in Control Panel.
2. Delete “C:\Users\LogonName\AppData\Roaming\SOUNDGRAPH\iMO N” folder.
3. Delete “C:\Program Data\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON” folder.
4. Delete “C:\Program Files (x86)\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON” folder.
5. Run “Regedit.exe”.
6. Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON
7. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SOUNDGRAPH \iMON.

And if the problem continues, please send e-mail to johnny.hur@soundgraph.com. I’ll send the test version to you.

Johnny Hur

Dear All,

I checked this problem with carteriii and he said it was solved with the test version. Please check it with the test version and if it still has a problem, let me know it. You have to install 7.84.0202 Beta version and overwrite iMON.exe file to iMON installation folder. (Normally “C:\Program Files\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON”)
